All of the students in the class documentary were participatory citizens. The country has had a lot of public schools then segregated schools since Brown vs. Boe. QHST is integrated in many ways. Usually people would sit with their own kind back then, but now in our school, it's all mixed up. Everyone sits with whomever, regardless of what color/kind/type they are. It is also integrated in the classes too, which is a good thing.

The country had changed since brown v BOE because we don’t have segration any more now every one goes to school together they go to the same movie theater. We all do it all together now there’s no more color place and white only places. Every one is equal. But I will say that there is racisms in some places and when it comes to getting a job or other thing in life. QHST is integrated because we have like the whole world in our school and classes. We all work together and talk together some of us even hangs out together.

Courteney Richardson..

in the class documentary... we witness a class that was very intergrated. everyone in that class had express their own feelings in poetry.... to me Q.H.S.T is very segregated. if it wasn't for the classes that the teachers assign us I believe we would only hang out with our own kind. for example what I said in class you can see at lunch everyone sits with their own kind. we meet other races inside of the class rooms where we work together and get along but outside of the class room half of us don't even want to be bothered with the other person. SPEAKING ALL HONESTLY

I agree with TLau wit saying that these kids in the documentary are participatory citizens. I think that it was very good for the country for what happen with Brown vs BOE. Since that happened schools all around the country have been well mixed with many different people and different cultures. I think that our school is one of the best examples for diversity because it’s very well mixed. I mean let’s be real there is always going to be crowds that hang out with the same people but that how it’s always going to be.

I agree with Tlau when she said that people would sit with their own kind back then, but now it has changed so much. Everyone is mixed and doesent care about color or race. At lunch it may seem that everyone is sitting with their own kind like Courtney said but we are still all treated as one and in class we all sit all over the place. It doesnt matter to the students of QHSt who they talk to and what color they are. To me being any color doesnt mean anything but its the person it self.

Qhst is intergrated because in class rooms we are able to sit where we want to and we choose to sit with different people of different race. I agree with Kemi because we are all equal nd there is no more separtaion between the whites and the blacks. The world is changing and we dont need to be the same color in order to get along with each other.

I agree with the students that said we witnessed participatory citizens in the class documentary. The students in the movie spoke out and made their opinion public. The country has changed since Brown v. BOE because schools are now intergrated and every child has equal opportunity when it comes to education. While it happens in some cases, people arent usually judged based on race. Qhst is very intergrated. Classes are composed of many different color faces, and everyone gets along.

I agree with megan on that the students in the documentary were participatory. I also agree with J. Dilan on that our school's classes are the most diverse. I dont feel that QHST is segregated for the most part. I say this because looking at the students in just about any class you'll see a variety of students sitting at one table. No one judges anybody. In most of my classes I can say is very integreated because the teachers dont assign seats to the student. The student are pretty much free to sit where ever and just by lookin at that you'll see diversity sitting together, blacks with whites, and indians with blacks everyone gets along. Now to be honest yes their is segregation in our school but its not to the point where people fight. I think its just that some people feel more comfortable with there own color. As far as lunch goes Not everyone sits with there own race my table I can say would be one of the most diverse.

In the video that was shown in class had many diffrent ethnic students speaking about the program that they are in. They showed many students with very diffrent backrounds which was very interesting because you see things from there point of view. Since Brown vs. BOE the world has really changed for the better. Its good to have a mixed group of kids around each other especially in our school we have a very big mixed group of kids and we all get along which is good. At QHST it doesnt matter your color, backround or where ever you came from your still excepted here which is great because in certain states they dont except who you are or care about where you came from. Thats what makes us such a intergrated school.

I also agree with what tiffany said, "All students in the class documentary were participatory citizens." I believe that the country did change since brown vs boe because colored people doesn't have to sit in the back of the bus or get segregated like they did in the past. Colored people also have the same education as any other race. I mean there are still cruel people that segregate different races but it's not to an extent as it was before. I personally believe that QHST is integrated, actually it varies because some people during lunch do sit with their own race and some people don't. Majority people i believe doesn't just sit with their own kind. During class it is also integrated which is also a good thing.

I agree w. those who stated they believe that QHST is integrated in many ways i feel that there is a large variety of students from diverse backgrounds and are of different nationalities. Regardless if certain students sit with they're own race everyone blends in at one point and time. I truly do believe this only happens in this school because in other school`s students wouldnt really care if they mingled or held a conversation w. someone of a diff. race. it`s sad because they get use to a certain mindset & start to believe stereotypes of other races & cultures.

I think QHST is an integrated school, not just because we have students coming from all different races and parts of Queens, but because of the way the school is set up. When you’re forced to work in groups with other people you are eventually going to have to communicate. And that's how relationships start by just talking and realizing that you have a lot more in common than you think, or if you have nothing in common at all, realizing that you still like each other.
This may seem like a very simple way of explaining it, but even though we are at school with people of different races all day, when we go home the people living next door to us or down the block, probably look a lot like ourselves. I think that Brown vs. the Board of education has brought are schools a long way. Even though are schools are integrated, especially in places outside of New York, our communities are not. I remember Mr. Brown saying in the beginning of the year, " we should appreciate how integrated our lives are not, because this is probably the last time in our lives we will experience that."
I don't know if the teachers would ever give us a straight, honest answer to this question, but I wonder if they take race into consideration when they are making our class tables and groups.

I agree with Casey B. QHST is the model of a school in the post-Brown V.S. BOE era. The school is based on diversity and it shows throughout the classrooms. We are often given the chance to choose where we sit and who we sit with. In most schools, kids of one race would often form tight-knit cliques but in QHST, our circles are widely diversified.

The student that were in this documentary were participatory citizens. In schools today there are no segragation because we are intergrated as people. I think that QHST is an intergrated school because when i first came to this school as a freshman I thought to myself that this school is very diverse and everyone of the students here whether ther black, indian or white they all have friends with different backgronds and thats one thing i liked about this school. Also how the school system is with the d75 students we dont single them out because of their disabilities we bring them into whatever we are doing in classrooms and treat them as if they were not disabled and thats one of the things I love about this school and if you ask if me again about QHST being segregated i would say no because at this school we are all equal there's no race boundaries between us.

I agree with vickie our school is integrated. Our school has kids from everywhere. But our school is not just diverse with race, its also diverse with peoples qualities, strengths and beliefs. In our class because we are around people who are different from us we learn from them. I think we have come far from Brown vs. BOE. Things have improved since then, but it depends on where you are. In some states they are very segregated. There may not be signs that state "White only" or "No Blacks" but it feels like it. There is so much racism but that is due to the fact that they are not surrounded by different races, like New York. The students in the class documentary were participatory citizens. It was a very integrated class with people of all backgrounds. Writing was their way of expressing their feelings and learning about Brown vs. BOE.

In Q.H.S.T we are very mixed and every thing is far. But some students say at lunch we are not and this and that but were I sit it is mixed and anyone can sit were they want so I don’t know why people bring that up.

I agree with Courtney because our school QHST is segregated. For example, durling lunch we sit with our own kind and hang out with our own kind. Kids do get along but they really look like they don't want to be bothered by anyone else. But We have a choice with whoever we want to sit with. But honestly, everyone likes to sit with their own kind because they get along better.

From Brown vs. Boe till now segregation has improved almost about like 65%.There still racisms in some places but I think that in school, theres a diverse in everything not only color, race, or your background. Everyone is combine with different types of people.Like Vickie said our school is intergrated with everyone.Especially in our school everything we do is working as a team and also in groups. When I came to QHST i thought there would only be a specific group of people but then I realized it was different and every group is mixed with type of backgrounds.

In my opinion the country has changed tremendousley since Brown vs B.O.E..To prove that you now see things like interracial couples and work offices with interracial co-worker relationships. But when it comes to QHST I belive that we are a bit segregated because as courtney stated you can kinda see it during lunch. But I believe the only reason for that is its usually a persons own kind that can best relate to them.

I agree with everyone saying that the kids in the documentary were participatory citizens. Since Brown vs. BOE this country has changed tremendously. Schools are no more segregated, and everyone is mixed with different cultures and races in classrooms. Our school is well integrated but also segregated at the same time. I agree with what Courtney R. said about how in lunch everyone sits with their own race or culture but at the same time others do with other races or cultures than their own. In lunch people sit with their friends. Their friends are the people who they have common ideas with or like what Mr.Brown said people who might be on sports teams.

I think the country has changed alot because Brown V BOE because like half of the students said in class we can sit anywhere we want to but back than we weren't able to be in the same class has the whites and the African Americans. And also we weren't able to go to the same school has black people and white people. We were all divide.

like courteney r. said if it wasnt for the teachers we would sit with our own kind and its true you see it in lunchrooms...i feel everything is good now than before because now people are able to walk around together be seen together and go to the same places together i feel that it better that we do that because its better for kids because there able to interact with students and learn bout different races and not be judge by your color and feel welcome whenever we go...
