There are less high school grads joining the military because they get to learn from their teachers that going to college rather than going to join the army is better. High school grads get to know what happens after you come back from war, and that makes them not want to go join the army. The high school grads know that after coming back to America they don’t have many necessities that they need. For example, the girl in the movie you showed us that had a decision to go to college or join the army.
Recruiters can attract more high school grads by telling them that after they come back home they will be financially helped. They can also persuade them by telling the positives of them going to war and not tell the negatives of them going to war. Another way to persuade them is by telling them that if they ever let anyone down in their family before they can help them by showing them how you will change in a good way ;and that you will be helping now by getting your parents $20,000.

The military needs people who are more productive or in other words, not lazy. Too many people are enlisted in the army with criminal records and being less productive. They don't have HS diplomas and the army needs people with those because HS graduates are actually smarter. In the army, you need to work 24/7 mostly. Less HS Grads are joining the military because first of all, I think it's really stressful. I say this because I've been to boot camp. Also, when you're in the army, you have to fight and people don't want to die & never get the chance to see their families anymore. That would be heartbreaking. Recruiters can attract more HS Grads by that telling them joining the army has a lot of benefits such as paying for your college!

I feel as if the recruiting tactics used to lure in people to the military is more of a quantity for lesss quality kind of thing. They are getting more people to join yet they are attracting less high school graduates. which means they are less educated and informed about the world. The reason I think the military is attracting less highschool graduates is because kids in highschool these days are being educated on the war and are taught the ins and the outs instead of the false advertised glorified war we see on tv, commercials and video games. If the military where to offer more college perks to those highschool graduates they may be able to pull in a few more.

Aren't we always discussing in class how when you sign up for the army, you immediately get 20,000 dollars? So then i don't get why people wonder why the number of high school drop outs who are joining the army are going up. It is some way a fact, that the poorer class of society is who joins the army. And the poorer class, would be equivalent to the amount of kids who drop out of high school. In times of war, many of the normal rules and laws, don't change completely, but they do get bent. You can't blame the U.S.A army to lower the standards of people who are able to join. If they kept such high standards, then no one would be joining, and the war would be pointless. I think that the recruiters need to be more honest in what they are saying. I know that it is there job to get people to sign up, but i think that many people are getting mislead in the totally wrong direction. And that is the reason why after they come home from Iraq, they are bitter and have many problems such as PTS.

I agree with John Blount, kids today are more educated and want to do something else after coming out of highschool. Most want to go college and do something with their lives besides going into the war. Most want want to make money in a buisness related source. I still think though there are still a good handful of highschool grades going into the war because of the money practically thrown at them. Also besides the money they are persuaded by all the commercials and advertisement of war and killing whether it be in video games or anywhere else. Another reason I say their are alot of highschool grads going into the army is because they don't know about the after affects of coming back home. They don't know about the mindset you go through. That's why I think more H.S grads aren't going into the army because more and more students are becoming aware of the effects of real war and all the issues surrounding it.

High school grads are not joining because they know what is going on they know that were in a war that we shouldn’t be in. Most of us watch the news with our parents or our parents like to tell us what’s going on with the war. We know a lot of people have died form the war. Wars were not sure of. A war that a lot of countries did not want us to start. We are still not sure why were still at war. The same thing that happened to the war vets might happen to the people who are in Iraq. I can’t think of any other way they can attract us they’ve done it all and most of us are just lazy like TLau said. Some of us just reader go to college than go to war.

There are less high school grads joining to the military because i agree with what manpreet said that once they get to college they start understanding better. one way that recruiters can attract more High School Grads in to the military is by offering them more money when they sign up to join the army.

There are less high school grads joining the military because more students are finding ways to avid the army they know a little about whats going on in the army from the news and their not happy with whats going on their. So they would rather make something of themselves then to just take the easy way out and join the army. Aso agreeing with what manpreet said that when the soldiers come back they wouldnt have the neccessities thay they would need. for example whith the movie that you showed us in class with the guy how it took him a long time to recieve section 8, but a person incarcerated who has not been through or seen the things that these soldiers had to do for this country and they would recieve section 8 first. I think that this country is twisted in its ways and need to shape up or this will be a country who will always be at war and who's to say the next war wouldnt be in the United States.Recruiters can attract more high school grads by not promising them that when they come out they will be taken care of but by actually doing and showing them that they would be taken care of.

The military needs people. So what they are doing is lowering there standers. i think they should let people with criminal records join. If that person has discipline. It will help keep them off our streets and give them something to do. When they get out most of them can’t get a job. So this will be good for them. But on the other hand they don't have High School diplomas and the army needs people with one because High School graduates because they will have more discipline and can keep there unit safe. Also, when in the army, you have to fight. Most of the people don't want to die. They are also scared that they will never get the chance to see their families again. Recruiters say anything to attract High School graduates by telling them that joining the army has a lot of benefits and they will pay for college! But the people have to think will they really want to sit in a room after being through all of that. I think they should have a law agents lying to people about what they will do for them.

Alot of high school grads are not joining the military because they know there something behind it, they know its about fighting for our country but they also look at it as a death sign because you can also loose your life. When teachers talk and tell us infor about military and how people talk them in with money because theres many that dont want to join because they know already whats going to happen. Like manpreet said they focus more on telling you the goods about the army i stead of the bad.Theres many that dont join because they have other goals they want to purse in and reach thats why more pick college over army because at the end college you learned something postive an in the army you can loose alot and learn more negatives than hearing the goods which scar people for life. !!!kristal Atchison!!!

I agree with what most students said about attracting people to be in the military. They should offer more money when they join and this would definitely attract people. In the army, you need to work a lot. Like sleep at night and waking up at dawn. From there on you have to keep working. I think its very stressful. You can't be lazy when your in the military. Kids want to go to college and they want to become something in life when they finsihed with college. But Kids who are only high school graduates, they think of making money and they decide to be in the army and go to war because they start off with $20,000.

The military are trying to target High School graduates. I know I've seen commercials that advertise the military paying for a students college tutition. Most students who want to go to college after high school, but can't afford to see this as their best bet. But then again, more and more teenagers are less interested in war efforts and being apart of the fight. Although the military are attempting to target high school graduates, like we talked about in class, its not like the war is on the news everynight. To most people this war isn't even going on. Its hard to want to be apart of something, or fight for something, when you don't even really understand the cause.

I agree with what the previous bloggers said. I think that by the military accepting men and women that have criminal records and no high school diploma it makes the military look really bad and very desperate. Less high school students join the military because now these days’ teens want to pursue a career and go of to college. Also another reason why high school grads don’t want to join the army is because they fully understand what’s going on in Iraq and how it makes you feel if or when you return back home. A way in which the recruiters might attract the high school grads might be if they provide more money or like what Manpreet said if they get financial help when they return back from Iraq.

I agree with tobin when he said it looks really bad when the army is accepting men and women that have a criminal records. Then I also think that if people don’t sign up for the army then what are they going to do so you have to look at it from both sides. A lot has changed from how the world use too be with people will sign up for the army when their needed. A lot of kids now want to live the American dream. Now to live the American dream a lot of kids are noticing that, the better the education the more money you get paid and so that why they are deciding not to go to the army. I think to attract more people to the army they should help them out financially but also guarantee them a job within a month or two.

Im pretty sure the majority of highschool grads are finding other occupations as well as going to college, these people already know what happens when you go into the military and dont want to have to live that kind of life. Most people enrolled in the military that are criminals dont have the neccessary discipline to be there and handle the kind of responsibility that they are being given. The military is reaching the point of desperation where they'll recruit anyone who gives joining a second look. If they were to offer more than just money at these people and throw in some benefits im sure these high school graduates wont just brush it off.

Less high school graduates are joining the military because they see that they can find out so many more ways to finish college and become what they want with out joining the military. I agree with Alyssa Cumberbatch in saying that they are trying to target High school students because they see it as a free education and a easy way to become what they want the free way. In the commercials they show the good side of the military. But they dont see that after all that stress they go through, by the time they want to finish their studies they will be to busy trying not to think of the horrible things that has happened in their past. It will be harder for anyone to finish college with a mind set of images that you will never be able to forget. What will they do then??

More and more high school graduates are learning that there is so many more ways to get through college and not be in so many loans. I dont think that recruiters can attract as many high school graduates anymore because most people find there ways to go on in life. But the only way left is for them is to go after the poor families who need money and will agree for any amount of money and then will join. And what Durkhanai is talking about the imagies they will it is true they wont be able to concentrate with all that drama and to answerr her question "What will they do then??" The answer is they wont do anything. They will try their best to become what they want but they will never get over their past.
