Althought the campaign has been a bit negative to some degree, I think that the heated rilvary shows what competitive politics is all about. By each candidate not backing down and giving it there all it shows that they really and truly will do anything in there power to become americas next president. With the race becoming so heated and close Instead of it making me not want to vote it actually pushes me to back my candidate even more to ensure his victory.

The campaign hasn't really affected any of my views. I feel that the nominees try to make their case as best as they can. Obama & Huckabee have really gotten support from young voters because of the way they present themselves. Hilary, however, tries to capitalize on the things of lesser importance (such as race or gender). My decision is kind of already made up. The negative campaign won't really change that.

My opinions of the candidates have not changed after reading the article. Even though I will not be voting this year, I think that if I was voting, and had a certain candidate that I believed deserved to win, the negative campaigns probably would not affect my opinion. Once a person makes a decision, especially about something like the choice for their future president that is something they are passionate about negative campaigning won't change their opinions.

I found some online blogs that shed light on other people’s views with negative campaigning between Obama and Hilary. The first blog in particular show that people have that have a certain candidate in mind, and their choices are pretty much set in stone.

Has the negative campaign affected your views on the candidates?
No my views didn’t change at all. I don’t feel that Hillary Clinton should be running for president because I think she is trying to be like her husband who used to be our president. Yes it would a great change in history if we had our 1st woman president but I don’t feel it’s the right job for her.
Has the negative campaign affected who you are voting for in the upcoming presidential election.
No it has not as I said before in my answer in the first question.
Here is the website that I found on a blog about the presidential campaign of 2008 http://binx101.wordpress.com/2008/03/06/hillary-clinton-going-negative-on-obama-republicans-outsmarting-democrats-again/

The negative campaigning has yet to change my views on the candidates. I know that the candidates are trying to get votes in any way they can. And at times it does call for some bashing of the other candidate; to show how they are not fit to be the next president. The negative campaign just gives you incite on a different view of the candidates’ by what is said and their response to what has been said. I feel that this race has been a very tight for the Democratic Party. Barack Obama is at the top of his game, doing exactly what has to be done. He has more supports than Clinton. And I feel this campaign is affecting Clinton more negatively.
Read this for more information to see Obama is ahead of Clinton.

My ignitial thoughts about the presidential race remained the same. I just see more and more of each party trys to slander opposing parties to bring votes away from each other. Thou it has not changed my thoughts it might of affected others thoughts. I think Obama are afew votes shy of leading in front of Hillary because of some of the Negative campaigning that came from Hillary's campaign. you cant look at some of here negativity that helped her win Rhode Island, Texas, and Ohio..

The negative affects of the campaign has affected my views of the candidates. the reason why it has affected my views is because the people who are running are not worrying about how they could bring change but how they could be better than the person their running against. My reasoning for saying this is if you know you can bring about change in America then why try to critize how the other person is bringing about change why not try to take what they say and make it better. Like for instance Hillary Clinton their are a couple reasons why i dont think she can become president one we already had a clinton in the white house two it would be like bringing a bush back in, in the sense of his father was president so now he became president we need change and i think Obama can bring it know matter what race he is Im not focused on that im focused on what he can do for me. Also Hillary plays the race card alot not saying that she racists it just makes it seem like just because he's black he cant become president "he's not qualified" doesnt have the experience but he shows great leadership and that makes a good president. No this wont change the way I vote Im stiil going to vote democratic. Read this for more information to see what I am talking about

I don't think there has ever been a campaign in the last few elections that have negative aspects to them. We have spoken in class before about the distinctions between the two democratic candidates. We have found that in their political views they are practically the same candidate. The only distinctions between them are aspects they cannot help, being their ages, races, and genders. Having such similar political views leaves little room to compare or criticize the candidates, because of this they are forced to go after weaknesses that are somewhat irrelivant to the political campaign. Obama and Clinton have both brought t the publics attention things we might not have otherwise known about our candidates. The negative campaign has not affected my views on the candidtates. I think both of the candidates still have the same views as before.
The negative campaign has not affected who I will vote for in the presidential election, because I know that their are many people will try to change each others vote before the election. But, no one can change my view to I want to vote for because, once I make a decision it will not change.
I am not sure if she can lose, because she won in Texas and Ohio. So, she sTILL HAS CHANCES TO WIN. Why does evryone make up a view on the campaign as negative or postive? Why not stay neutral?

When it comes down to the idea of Negatvie campaigning, it doesn't really change my mind much on any of the candidates. I expect for there to be some type of negative campigning becasue without it, a presdential election would be nothing more than a race for homecoming queen. My views did not change for who you want to vote for. If that was the case, you would change what baseball team you were a fan of, everytime an announcer spoke ill of them. I think that since I am going to be voting republicanly, that the negative campaigning that is going on, isnt' really effecting the republican race that is going on, as much as it is effecting the democrat party.

Honestly, the negative campaign has not affected my views on the candidates nor has it affected how I'm going to vote. Like Alyssa C. said in class, once someone is set on voting for a certain peson, the slander wont change that. Obviously when people are going against each other, like in an election, theyre going to bash each other. So it should be something we voters expect and not be something that makes go back and forth between people.
I feel the negative campaigning has altered the image of the democratic party, but in a good way. Like someone said in this blog, http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080221/pl_nm/usa_politics_youth_dc, Obama should not stoop to a level such as retaliating against Hilary, or any candidate slandering him. This shows that the democratic party still has people who are mature and respectable, which is a good image.
I like how Matt conducted the class this time. He did something new and different from Mr. Brown and I think it got all of us interested. It was a lot more productive because we were able to respond on the blog site right after discussing it, which probably helped a lot of students.

Yes, the negative campaign has made me lose respect for Hilary Clinton, because I don’t think she needs to attack Obama as much as she does. She should focus on her message and issues, instead of making her campaign all about how inexperienced Obama is. I’ve actually gained more respect for Senator Obama because he has refrained from negativity, and focused on his message of hope and positive change.
I’m a Democrat, and I like the positions of both democratic candidates. However, I’ve always been more of an Obama supporter, and I’ve always thought he would make a better president than Hillary Clinton. I don’t like the negativity coming from Clinton’s campaign, and that has only mad me lean more towards voting for Obama. As of right now, I still want Obama to be the next president, and if Hillary wins the nomination of her party then I would vote for her over Senator McCain.
I do believe the negative campaign has altered the image of the democratic party. I think the party was thought to be united with the common goal of change for America, but now it seems to be very divided. Both democratic candidates should be civil towards one another and run a clean campaign based solely on their issues, and allow the American public to decide which one of them deserves the nomination.

The campaign election hasn't affected my views and opinions on the candidates at all. My vote is still with Obama not just because he's black but because i believe he's going to keep his promises. My views remain the same. I think in a way it has altered the democratic party negatively. The article we read basically is saying the young people are pushing Obama to win. Everytime they name a supporter of Obama's they say his or her age.

These are two blogs that really explained how how much the negative campaign has altered the image of the democratic party, and how negative it is. I agree a lot with these two blogs.

I agree with what some of the students have said about negative campaigning. This has not affected or changed my views in any way. Even though some people will changes their mind about who to vote for. It's nice to have a woman be our U.S. president for the first time but I don't think she will do as well as she did like her husband Bill Clinton.

The campaign really hasn't affect my views. And i agree with courtney how he said that Obama & huckabee have alot of young supporter with them and i think that Hillary isn't some one that looks like that she can run the country. I think Obama is some one that looks like that they can run the country that he can make changes.

I have to start with the fact that I love Barack Obama, and am completely biased in his favor. I feel like 'mudslinging' in politics, and negative campaigning really doesn't affect people like it should anymore.

An election should be about the candidate and their policy, not their religion, personal life, or commercials. Insult politics just should not work, but they do! So many negative ads influence mindless voters.

Hillary has repeatedly tried to get a rise out of Obama in debates, and she's changed up her campaign strategy many times. Its like she has multiple personality disorder! First she's more experienced, then she can handle a crisis, then she has better policies. She's nuts! (AND just because she has a vagina does NOT warrant the women's vote!!!)

I loved this quote "In a choice between McCain and McCain Lite, why wouldn’t you choose the real thing?" from the voting McCain article. I think that if it comes down to Hillary or McCain, I'd vote McCain too. How wierd is that?!

(P.S. GREAT TOPIC, Brown!!)

my opinions changed upon this because many is not worrying about how they can help us there just worried about whos going to win many feel hilary will win because of clinton, but they dont realize that hes not the one in office. Obama on the other hand manys looking at it like hes going to be the first african american president will that changed anything no it wont because race doesnt matter i heard from others out loud in streets buses just talking and responding bak to my responds oo hilary should win or she will win because of clinton and he might be giving good feed back but you can never know until time so now we just have to wait....

I agree with every one the campaign has been very negative. People are not focuses on the campaign and there views they are focused on there negativity and that not what they should be dong. Someone has to step down. But no one is willing to. This year’s campaign is very intense because they both have good views and we like there views and we also want our first black man or our first women president. Obama s leading by 200 and them both need 20025 delegates. If you want to learn more go to www.cnn.com/electon/2008 it explains the delegates and why it matters.

The negative campaign has not affected my views on the candidates. Like Megan said, obviously the candidates are going to say negative things about each other. If I'm set on voting for a person, what is said about them wont negate the reasons I want to vote for them. I think that negative campaigning really hasnt altered the democratic party. Each political party has slander going on so the image of the democratic party should not be altered.

I think that negative campaigning will not effect everyone because they know that they do that so they could try and take over each other. But if people actually believe in one another then negative campaigning shouldnt even be on there mind.

Anonymous said...

i agree with most peoples views in saying that these negative campaigns having an impact on my opinion. its all basically an attempt to target a different audience to join their side, as megan has already stated once someone has chosen who they believe will create a change in society theres not much you can do to change their minds, unless of course that candidate does something of extreme measures that cannot be seen as bypassable and gone without distinct consequence but everybody gets their hands dirty every once in awhile to try and gain the upper hand.
