Is the governement responsible for the television programs being braodcast into your home?

Whose job is it to monitor children in front of the tv?

it's not the governemnts fault for hearing racial slurs or curses on tv, the tv show itsef is the problem. The government is just trying to provide a way for entertainment. Its the parnets job to monitor what the kids watch, if you dont want your kid to watch it, well obviously dont watch it. I would put the blame on parents because they can find other things to do than watch T.v.

No I do not think the goverment has the resposiblitie of broadcasting what we watch because we paid for cable we paid to watch shows like family guy and law and order. The responsibility is the parents to monitor what their children is watching.

I believe that the government is responsible for what gets broadcasted on television. Little kids are picking up things from television which they watch more than anything now days. It is the parents job to monitor the kids in front of t.v. Parents should choose what shows are appropiate for their age. Their are starting to be more shows in which a type of foul language is being used. The government should approve what gets broadcasted on television.

I believe the government is not responsible for the television that is broadcasted in our homes. It is the government’s responsibility to make sure that we are allowed to have television access at our house. But its up to the parents to actually monitor what their kids are watching. If it’s the parents job to protect their kids from anything that harms them, they its their job to protect what they watch on TV as well. There are many things such as parental controls that can help them protect their kids.

The main job to monitor the television for children should be of the parentsl, though that is highly unlikely in many cases unfortunately. There are irresponsible parents, and parents who could care less about what their kids watch. There are also less fortunate parents who work long ours and cannot keep their children from watching innappropriate shows. This is where the FCC must step in and censor television. It is unfortunate because we lose some basic speech rights by doing so, but I think it is worth it to protect children.
I also don't see why there should be censorship after 10 or 11 o'clock. Children should be in bed by that point and adult should be mature enough to watch what they want. Ratings will go up, advertisers will make more money and this could help boost the economy. Just throwing it out there . . . .

Yes, the Fcc should have a 5 or 10 second delay, but there shouldn't be fines given to TV channels for what other people say. I think the Fcc Should hold the person who said the remark responsible for their own actions. Yes, the TV channel broadcasted the act, but they're not the one who actually told the people to go up there and say those things.
The government are not completely responsible for the things that we see on our TV's, but we are because we are the people who are watching it. Children should know what they shouldn't be watching and parents should supervise their kids.

The Government should not be responsible for the television programs broadcast in our homes. We should be able to watch whatever we want to watch and whenever we want. It is the parents job to make sure their kids don't watch anything that is not appropriate for their age. I think children as young as 6 should be able to watch whatever they want to watch. Its the parents job to teach them when and where its proper to say or act what they see on television. The kids are going to do it anyway when they get older but they younger they are exposed to it the younger they learn how and when and where to use it.

The person responsible for what kids are watching on t.v. are the parents. The parents should see what shows the kids are watching and they should decide on whether a channel is appropriate or not for their children. If they feel something isn’t right and their kids shouldn't see it they do have the option of blocking channels so they should just do it. Though I would only do this to little kids because if its grown children they are already mature enough to decide for themselves on what’s appropriate for them and if they are mature enough to deal with whatever is going on the t.v.

The government shouldn't be fully responsible for the television programs that broadcast into our homes, yet they should be monitored. There should be a specific guideline as to what should be broadcasted at what time.

Parents are responsible for children until a certain age, and that's how it should be in front of the TV. It is the parents responsibility to make sure what children watch in there homes. But I do think that just because parents will be there to watch what children watch on TV that its okay for anything to be broadcasted into our homes.

The government is responsible but the parents of the children are also part of the blame. The government are the ones who usually gets to choose what plays on your television. Parents should also be aware of parental control on their television and should learn how to use it.

The government is someone responsible for television programs being broadcast because anyone can tune in to watch it. Although there's always a point where the the parent or guardian should be the one to monitor what their children watch. It's a shared responsibility.

The government should not be held responsible for broadcasting what we watch on t.v. I believe that the parents should have a bigger role in protecting little children while watching t.v. The government should not baby sit everyone's children, that's why we have parents. Also, every family is different, some families sleep early and some late so you wouldn't know who watches t.v. at like night, so the idea of changing the broadcast at night wouldn't make any sense either. If the parents are worried about what their children watch on t.v. they should be more active and control what their kids are watching.

It's the parents job to make sure that their child watches the right thing. People complaining about the show their kids watch but when the FCC does thing they complain that their shows were canceled. To me I think you either watch what your kids watch on tv or. suffer .

The government is totally to blame for what is being broadcasted. All those shows that kids are watching are picked for them to be seen.Parents these days dont have time so make sure the bad things are blocked, or stop their kids from watching it.I think everyone should just deal with it!

Since it is not allowed to disrespect the President, then it should also not be allowed for broadcasts to permit cursing or sexual innuendos.

The government should have minor responsibility. FCC needs to step in and censor inappropriate language on television broadcasts. It is in the interest of our children and since they are the future it is also in the government's interest too.

I FEEL THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TV SHOWS THAT APPEARS ON TV, BECAUSE IF THAT WAS THE CASE ALL CHANNEL MOSTLY HALF WOULD BE BAND JUST FOR BEING RATED R!

I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE THE PARENT IDEAL IN WHAT THEY BRING INTO THERE HOMES AND IF THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT THERE CHILD IS WATCHING, I CONSIDER SOME THING NOT SUITABLE FOR CHLDREN TO WATCH BECAUSE KIDS INTEND TO WANT TO ACT OFF THE ROLE THINKING ITS COOL AND COPY WHAT THEY SAY WHICH IS NOT A JOB IDEA.

SOME TV SHOWS AS WELL AS MOVIES TIGGER KIDS TO DO THE WRONG THING PUT BAD THOUGHTS INTO THERE MIND AT THE WRONG AGE.

I FEEL PARENTS NEED TO BE MORE PROTECTIVE WITH THERE TV AND MONITER THERE CHILDREN LIKE GITU K. SAID BECAUSE IF YOU FEEL A CERTAIN WAY THEN FIND SOMETHING ELSE FOR YOUR CHILD TO DO! MAKE SENSE RIGHT!!!
