Race is always a public issue that needs to be dealt with, but the question is who do we go to? As we all kno Afircan American were on headlines during the times of segregation. They were put on the news becuase people didn't like the idea of them being in the same room with white people. Then recently the Twin Towers happened, and the blame was all on the Afghan people. So it made it seem like they are the criminals, that each and everyone you see of that kind are bad people. The world is just sterotypical and should be changed. People are judged on "What color they are". Somtimes I wonder does that even matter? I think from this article to hear a reporter asking questions like that must symbolize how much there are still racial problems all around, even though they arent saying it, they are thinking it. It should be stopped.

Race plays a huge role in the news we see or read because alot of people would not find it intresting or amazing to hear that a group of little african american children were found or were returned home after a period of time rather than a group of white children returning home. Due to previous hearings about races in the news, people get used to hearing one race. When another race is in the news out of nowhere, it seems intresting for people to listen to.

Even though we do not like to admit it, race does play apart in our society. Even if the telecasters try to make it as diverse as they could. People still have to pin point at something and racially segregate. I believe there is no fault at the people who make the TV shows but at the people who watch them and the way they interpret everything. If people always find racial thing in a diverse country over little things this country is never going to be as diverse as we want it to be.

I think that this has been going on for a long time in the country, but people have been afraid to talk about it. I think it is a sad thing for such a thing to still be happening many years after segregation and apartheid are over. News editors only think of the things that will attract the eyes of people.
I think news should be things that are possibly endangering to anyones life. Yes one state news can't report all of the united states, but there should be some nationwide coverage. There should be certain channel that makes it ther obligation to report any problem in the state. On the otherhand there should be channels that makes sure they do include nationwide coverage in there news.

It is terrible that a crime in an inner city neighborhood against a minority is shrugged off by the population as just another "gang crime" or something of that nature. Though when a caucasian child disappears, the entire media goes nuts in a frenzy. A child dying is horrible, no matter the race. The same is for a person of any age. This is just more proof that the media is certainly manipulative and makes us much dumber than we already are. Stations know their audiences and play the stories that they want to hear so they can be frightened and scared just the way the like it. The news creates paranoia, stereotypes and it helps contribute to the idiocy of our society.

Race plays a big role in the news we see and read. People of color get smaller parts of the news than people of no color. For example, even though the person of color has been shot and killed, the person with no color who has found $10 has made front page. I understand not every thing that happens needs to be in the news or has to be talked about more than other news but the most important, colored or non colored, should be the most talked about.

I think that race is a major role in what we see and here in the news. I don't think that its right, but it happens. I think that its unfair, that so many wrong things happen in the world and sometimes we are just stuck on one topic because of race.

Race plays a role in the news we see and read because depending on the situation and the people involved in it, it may be published or put out there. But if there was a shooting in a bad neighborhood it would be nothing new to those who live there and others would probably find it as something typical to happen. I there should be different sections in a newspaper or channels and show everything so that everyone’s story is being told no matter how bad the area is or how many times it happens, somebody can make a difference if they hear about what is going on.

Race unfortunately plays a major role in the media today. News involving minorities seems to sink into the norm. Just like what was said in class, the news is something completely out of the ordinary that makes it unique in a way that people feel it needs to be broadcast.

Race plays a major role in the news that see watch everyday.Throughout the news we mostly see that black and spanish people are always getting hurt or killed. Though if there is news that a white person has been hurt its like the most dramatic thing happening. I think that this is because they already know these other two races are always being attacked so if its another race they pay more attention to it and take the news to a bigger level because for them it doesnt happen so often. So all these racial issues are always standing out to the adults and even kids that are just growing up and are already realizing how race has a lot to do in the world we live in.

I think Race plays A big roll in the issues we have today. Race plays a big roll because i think people are more interested in hearing about people less fortunate them then so news gets put on based on social and monatery class way before anything else. Whats more important in the news today the war in iraq or some guy getting shot up when theres plenty of stories out there, this serves as a big distraction in our society.

Race always play a role in the news because if it was a white baby that got killed in the hamptons it will make front page like the boy that walked home. but same senerio a black baby gets shot in brooklyn that is not goin to make it on the front page because it is assumed it is not goin to draw as many readers for its normal.

when we read and see racism we dont think much of it cause everybody knows that exist. it also shapes the way you think of people.

A big part in our media today is race. Sometimes race can change the outcome of an article being published or a news report. If you carefully pay attention to the news there is a larger majority of race on the positive side of things and the negative side of things. The fact is that more people are less interested about news concerning African Americans. This is really sad because news shouldn't be based on race. The point for having news is giving out important information about everything to people not interesting things only for one race.

Racism hasn't gone away, it has only taken a new shape and form. And though we don't like to admit it but we all contribute to racism in some way. so even though we don't realize it, if a black baby gets hurt no one cares but if baby of a different race gets hurt , depending on its race. its front page news.

Race is probably the biggest topic when it comes to the news and alot of things we read these days. African Americans are one main group that racism is heard about. Its wrong! When it comes to the news you never really hear about an African American unless they either commited a crime or did somthing that society doesn't except.

On most local news channels race doesn't always play a factor especially in New York City, but it does exist. Corporate and national channels and newspapers still focus on race.

36 students have been killed in Chicago throughout the school year and is not even major news. Luckily, I was watching CNN Newsroom and found out about students being killed in Chicago. If it was any other channels maybe we would have not known. A lack of coverage on the most important news stories is the result of race.
